NAP National Assignation Plan 2005-2007 was approved by Real Decree 1866/2004, on the 6th of September.
NATIONAL PARK
Natural area of ecological and cultural significance owned and protected by the State for the enjoyment of current and future generations.
NATURAL MONUMENT
A natural/cultural feature which is of outstanding or unique value because of its inherent rarity, representative of aesthetic qualities or cultural significance (definition European Environment Agency EEA).
NATURAL PARK
Area – generally large and not transformed by human activity- that has an ecological, esthetic, educational and scientific value. The conservation of this area requires and deserves a particular attention, as well as, a balanced and sustainable use of its natural resources.
NITRATE
A compound containing nitrogen that can exist in the atmosphere or as a dissolved gas in water and which can have harmful effects on humans and animals. Nitrates in water can cause severe illness in infants and domestic animals. A plant nutrient and inorganic fertilizer, nitrate is found in septic systems, animal feed lots, agricultural fertilizers, manure, industrial waste waters, sanitary landfills, and garbage dumps.
NON-CONFORMITY
The non-fulfillment of a specified requirement. Any or all of the following: a) one or more EMS requirements have not been addressed; or b) one or more EMS requirements have not been implemented; or c) several nonconformities exist that, taken together, lead a reasonable auditor to conclude that one or more EMS requirements have not been addressed or implemented.
NON-RENEWABLE ENERGY Energy that can be used only once. Most non-renewable sources of energy (oil, gas and coal) produce greenhouse gases when they are used.
NUISANCE
An act which causes material inconvenience, discomfort or harm and is persistent or likely to re-occur.
NURSERY
When referring to the cultivation of plants under controlled conditions is also known as greenhouse or glasshouse.
